Designer Thomas Albertsen’s Grasp portable lamp, crafted for the Danish brand Frandsen, features a groundbreaking rechargeable bulb. This innovative design was first introduced on the popular TV show Denmark’s Next Classic, where it emerged as one of the best lighting designs.
Grasp Portable Lamp: Indoors and Outdoors Versatility
Frandsen was quick to recognize the potential of Albertsen’s Grasp portable lamp, featuring a sleek metal form consisting of two cones—one forming the base and the other the lampshade. These are connected by a slender, curving rod that serves as both the lamp’s body and handle. This design not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also enhances its functionality.
Minimalist Design with Practical Features
The Grasp portable lamp is designed with a minimalist visual appeal, making it a versatile addition to any space. It boasts a water resistance rating, ensuring it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Its stable base allows it to sit securely on smooth and uneven surfaces alike.
Rechargeable Bulb Technology
One of the standout features of the Grasp lamp is its Frandsen One bulb, which acts as both the light source and power unit. “I wanted to create a portable lamp capable of illuminating a table where people gather, enveloping the surroundings in a warm, intimate ambience, and casting a magical aura in otherwise dark spaces,” said Albertsen. Additional Iterations
Two other iterations of the Grasp lamp are also available: the Grasp Wall, a wall-mounted sconce lamp, and the Grasp Garden Spear, which features a pointed base for easy insertion into the ground. Both variations share the table lamp’s cone-shaped shade and innovative lightbulb, extending the versatility of the Grasp lighting series.
