In a culmination of meticulous finishing touches in late 2023, esteemed New Zealand luxury appliance brand, Fisher & Paykel, is set to unveil its highly awaited, immersive experience center at 98 Wigmore Street, London, in the early months of 2024.
From the initial offering of kawakawa tea artfully prepared on a ‘hot rock’ to an extravagant dinner for ten in the lavishly appointed Social Kitchen, the London Experience Centre embodies the brand’s unwavering commitment to kitchen excellence, flawless outcomes, and the revolution of laundry into a personalized fabric care solution.
As a pivotal component of Fisher & Paykel’s global rollout of luxurious experience centers, the space on Wigmore Street has been brought to life through a creative collaboration between Brinkworth, bespoke cabinet maker Jacob Alexander, Fisher & Paykel’s experience design team, and Alt Group, the brand’s strategic partner in branding.
Daniel Witten-Hannah, CEO of Fisher & Paykel, expresses, “We design some of the best appliances in the world. We wanted to showcase the potential of our products in the world’s premier kitchens, and through creative collaboration with Brinkworth and Jacob Alexander, that is what these represent.”
Stephen Rickersey, Chief Operating Officer for Fisher & Paykel UK, Ireland & Europe, adds, “Often referred to as the design capital of the world, London will very shortly be home to the first Fisher & Paykel Experience Centre in Europe. It is both an honor and privilege to bring the rich and immersive culture of New Zealand to our market as we take the next step to support our ambitious business plans in the UK and beyond.”
Anticipating the London Experience Centre
Fisher & Paykel’s approach to experience center design mirrors its ‘Designed in New Zealand’ ethos, emphasizing architecture with meaningful connections to place and respect for culture, history, and materials.
Brinkworth has translated this concept into a refined material palette of elm, drawing inspiration from the site’s proximity to three of London’s renowned green spaces; Portland stone, the iconic stone of London; and deep brown glazed tiles, inspired by the subterranean network of brick-clad waterways that crisscross the site.
Key spaces within the experience center include a Minimal Kitchen, showcasing the seamless integration of appliances that elevates the kitchen into a crafted and furniture-like space. The Apartment Kitchen challenges the notion that luxury is size-dependent. The Fabric Care Solutions space illustrates how Fisher & Paykel has transformed laundry into fiber-specific tailored fabric care.
At the heart of the London Experience Centre lies The Social Kitchen, a dining space for ten. In this subterranean sanctuary, in-house chefs will lead Mastery of Temperature culinary experiences, breathing life into the insights behind the brand’s approach to food care and cooking.
Fisher & Paykel CEO Witten-Hannah notes, “Throughout the London Experience Centre, every interaction has been crafted to resonate with who we are, and every physical element is carefully considered — from the offering of kawakawa tea upon entry to the descent of a discreet sculptural spiral stair into a luxurious vaulted space. A hidden kitchen, where guests are welcomed by a bowler-hatted sculpture by Michael Parekōwhai, New Zealand’s foremost living artist.”
The Wigmore Street Experience Center aims to bolster the brand’s presence in the UK, inspiring and supporting key professional audiences with experiences encapsulating the essence of the Fisher & Paykel brand. Ahead of its grand opening in early 2024, Fisher & Paykel welcomes bookings for Master of Temperature culinary experiences and guided tours of the new space. Learn more here.
