Perched 1,066 feet above Tokyo in the Azabudai Hills development, Aman Residences Tokyo is the group’s first standalone residential project. The interiors, designed by hospitality icons Yabu Pushelberg, combine Asian and European influences to create a unique, serene living space.

The design philosophy behind Aman Residences Tokyo is a blend of dramatic and tranquil elements. Glenn Pushelberg, co-founder of Yabu Pushelberg, emphasizes that the residences embody a strong yet quiet personality, reflecting the Aman brand’s aesthetic. With 91 fully serviced residences featuring private entrances and dedicated elevator access, the living spaces exude luxury through soaring ceilings, natural materials, and neutral colors.
Incorporating Nature in Design
George Yabu, the other co-founder of Yabu Pushelberg, explains that nature plays a central role in the design. The themes of land, sea, and sky, prominent in Japanese art, are seamlessly integrated into the interiors, creating an intimate yet globally appealing experience.
Luxurious Amenities with Panoramic Views
The top 11 levels of the building house extensive amenities, providing residents with stunning views of Tokyo. These amenities include a lounge, bar, private dining room, tea room, library, media room, games room, and an impressive Aman Spa. The spa features a 25-meter swimming pool, sauna, steam room, relaxation room, and an expansive gym.

The Aman Spa stands out with its double-height space and staggered glossy-blue bricks that create a dramatic effect over the water. According to Pushelberg, the spa’s design aims to evoke a sense of awe with simplicity, offering residents a serene experience of floating above Tokyo with views of the bay and cityscape.

An extensive public art collection curated by the Mori Art Foundation and Hanabi art consultants is displayed throughout the property. Highlights include a sculpture titled “The Rock” by Sawada, suspended above a shallow pool in the lobby.
Expanding the Aman Brand
Aman Residences Tokyo is one of 13 branded residence locations operated by the Aman Group, with plans for ten more destinations in the next five years. Upcoming locations include Bangkok, Beverly Hills, Miami Beach, and Niseko. Additionally, the group recently launched Janu Tokyo, designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, complementing the Aman Tokyo, which opened in 2014.
